Chocolate coffee bombs

Tired out from everything Christmas-based assaulting all of your senses?
Need something to wake you up?

Here’s a little blog post on a really simple recipe, just in time for the last minute christmas rush. No Skyrim dungeons this time.

These truffles contain a strong kick of coffee, so are not for the faint hearted. This isn’t the usual way I’d make truffles, I just thought to try something a little bit different.

You can either brew up your coffee with 2 tablespoons of boiling water and your usual amount of granules, or sieve the leftover dregs from a Cafetiere.

300g milk or dark chocolate
25g soft butter
1 tbsp ginger
125ml double cream
sprinkle of sugar
25ml  super intense coffee
Cocoa for rolling out.
1tbsp rum or whisky (optional)

Heat the cream and sugar until it just begins to boil. Remove it from the heat and mix the rest of the ingredients except the cocoa powder into the saucepan.

Chill the mixture for two hours until it begins to firm up. If it’s looking like it’s not going to set, add another 100g of melted chocolate to the mix and chill again.

Alternatively, you could pour it into a lined tray and cut it into squares.


Once firm, shape it into balls and roll in the cocoa powder.

Chill again until solid.


Eat and feel a little more prepared to face Xmas.
